Ariana Grande 'Thank U, Next' music video breaks YouTube record Ariana Grande should give her fans a big thank you for the overnight popularity of her new “Thank U, Next” video. The Boca Raton singer’s video, which was released Friday, broke YouTube’s record for most views within a 24-hour release. There was so much curiosity about the video Friday that it delayed YouTube comments temporarily, according to the video company. By the following morning, the video had 46 million views — that pushed it ahead of the previous record which was BTS and their video for “Idol” with 45.9 million last August, according to Varietym. By noon Saturday, Grande’s video had 50 million views. As of Monday morning, the video had almost 90 million views. In the video, Grande plays scenes from several female-lead romantic comedies from the 2000s including “Bring It On,’’ “Mean Girls’’ and “13 Going On 30.” Fans also caught cameos from those movies such as “Mean Girls’’ actor Jonathan Bennett and “Legally Blonde’’ actor Jennifer Coolidge as well as Kris Jenner playing a camera-holding mom recording her daughter. The song and video are tributes to Grande’s ex-boyfriends including “Saturday Night Live’ cast member Pete Davidson whom she was engaged to last summer. They broke up in October.
